Navini is the provider of the world’s largest, non-line-of-sight, zero-install Ô portable wireless broadband network. Later this year, BellSouth’s wireless broadband service will be expanded to select Florida cities.
“This commercial deployment of wireless broadband, with the help of Navini Networks, complements BellSouth’s wireline strategy and extends the reach of our broadband service” said Keith Cowan, president of marketing and product management – BellSouth. “The deployment of this technology demonstrates our continuing leadership in providing broadband to our customers.”
“BellSouth is a first mover among incumbent carriers in the world to deploy commercial wireless broadband service in the WiMAX era” commented Roger Dorf, president and chief executive officer of Navini Networks. “We are proud to have been selected by BellSouth to support this logical extension of residential broadband services to their customers.”
“This is a critical milestone for broadband wireless as an alternative broadband technology that adds new value to a service providers’ business models,” said Lindsay Schroth, senior analyst, Yankee Group. “With a Tier 1 carrier demonstrating the validity of broadband wireless solutions and showing how the technology can enhance their service and product portfolio, the personal broadband vision of WiMAX is gaining credibility and momentum.”
“ Navini Networks shares BellSouth’s vision of providing easy to use, portable high speed broadband both in cities and regional areas," added Dorf. “Navini’s Ripwave equipment delivers for BellSouth – today - the portable/personal broadband functionality envisioned in WiMAX 802.16e with a clear commitment and upgrade path. • 11/08/05 Irish Broadband to expand its portable wireless broadband network with Navini
RICHARDSON, TEXAS– August 11, 2005 - Irish Broadband, Ireland’s leading provider of wireless broadband, has announced expansion of its wireless broadband service in Ireland using pre-WiMAX technology from Navini Networks, Inc .
“This expansion, which consists mainly of Navini’s Ripwave ® Base Station and Ripwave modem products, will enable Irish Broadband to significantly improve coverage and density of our network over the next 6 months,” Doody added. “Consumer demand is strong, as seen by the surge we experienced in the 2 nd quarter.”
Irish Broadband’s network rollout is proceeding well. “We are signing up over 400 customers every week and expect that number to significantly increase in the second half of 2005,” said Paul Doody, managing director of Irish Broadband.
Irish Broadband is the second largest broadband services provider in the State and Ireland’s leading wireless broadband provider. Services are currently available to business and residential customers in the cities of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Galway, Drogheda and Dundalk, providing savings of up to 70 percent on copper and fiber line alternatives.
“ Navini Networks is dedicated to providing operators like IBB with a competitive market advantage," said Roger Dorf, president and chief executive officer of Navini Networks. “IBB clearly understands the importance of early customer acquisition.”
“Navini’s equipment has enabled us to add more customers at higher speeds, and more quickly and that’s an advantage that has undoubtedly contributed to our fast growth, “ said Doody. “And because wireless broadband is delivered ‘over the air’, customers do not require a phone line to avail of Irish Broadband’s services.”
“Navini’s equipment will ensure that IBB is correctly positioned for future wireless standards by providing seamless upgrade to WiMAX 802.16e standard,” added Dorf.
